Learning and Development is, without a doubt, my favorite HRM function or specialization. However, I have not ignored the other areas of HRM throughout my career! I have gained valuable experience working in all areas, including Recruitment, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Development, Performance Management, and Employee Relations. All of my HRM experience has been gained by either working with start-up institutions or with organizations undergoing significant restructuring. I can honestly say that I have not had an HRM work experience where I joined an organization already running smoothly with no change required! So regardless of job title (and those have ranged from Specialist to Acting VP), I have jumped in and "gotten my hands dirty" while building from the ground up. Some of the projects I have been involved with include:

- Project Manager of writing
of the institution-wide Policies and Procedures Manuals, including membership
of Draft Policy Volumes Review Committee (remainder of committee is the
President’s Executive Committee).
- Introduction and inclusion of behavioral competency library and model into full employee lifecycle (i.e., recruitment and selection, performance management, development, retention strategies).
- Member of Core HR Team (three-person) which built and implemented, inclusive from conception to go-live, new organization-wide ERP, HR component in a six-month time frame.
- Developed and headed new faculty and staff initiation and orientation activities, resulting in a documented increase of customer service satisfaction from 54% to over 80% in all surveyed areas.
- Introduced and supervised formal performance management process, to include creation and delivery of introductory performance management workshop for 130+ employees from first-line supervisors through CEO’s; mentored CEO’s and GM’s in setting SMART objectives.
- Twice assisted on projects to map employee salaries to new compensation grid using Hay Group methodology.
